Care for the Lepers

People with leprosy are stigmatized, secluded and socially deprived. They don’t have an access to public places and common facilities. Due to these conditions they are mentally traumatized. These have an adverse effect on their families and especially their children.

Due to the lack of awareness about the modern and affordable medicines they earn their living by begging in the streets and market places.

Serving With Love and Building Up Hope

GT visits their community on a regular basis and spends time with them in knowing their concerns and sharing the love of God. We provide them with blankets, clothes, food and occasional gifts for their children. Every month, GT provides financial aid for40 families and has opened a savings account for their children’s bright future.

Needs of the Project

Care for A Leprosy Patient:

By supporting a leprosy affected patient, you’ll be contributing towards their holistic care. Your support of INR 1500 every month will aid in their medical care, education of their children, provide nourishing food.

Need for Bathrooms:

These patients go into the open woods for toilet. This is unhygienic and extremely difficult for them, especially in the night. They need 12 to 15 toilets, preferably beside their houses.

Need for a Common Dormitory:

Some of the patients are disabled and are totally dependent on others in the community to care for them. During the day, they are put outside their homes under the trees. During our recent visit, one of the concerns they shared was the need for a common shelter with attached kitchen and bathrooms. This can be a common place for people who are old, fragile and disable.

Need for Proper Roads:

The roads within the community are rough and steep. With all their infirmities it becomes difficult for them to walk those roads. In fact, some of them fell down on occasions and had injuries. There is a need to construct at least 3-4 good roads.
