Sophia Child Development Center

In 2014, Gospel Trumpets (GT) in collaboration with Compassion International Ministries worked for the upliftment of children living in utmost poverty through a project named, SOPHIA CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER (SCDC). Since Compassion International had to leave India in 2016, GT did not want to abandon these children and has now completely taken up the project and is working in building up around 221 children’s lives.

SCDC is located in Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, India. Children living in slums within 5 kilometers (kms) from the center are enrolled into the project. All these children live in deprived socio-economic conditions. The parents’ financial scarcity and illiteracy limits them from providing basic needs and education.

At SCDC, around 221 children are nurtured physically and academically, regular tuitions (extra classes), nutritious food, extra-curricular activities are a part of the child’s regular day at the center. Cultural activities, picnics, field trips, talent shows, sports events, awareness programs, medical camps, personality development classes are part of their curriculum. Parent meetings are conducted periodically to track the child’s development and to encourage the parent create a happy ambience back home.
